It's a monument to America's love of processed foods, a cherished symbol of obesity and industrialized food production that stirs the emotions of hot dog lovers nationwide. It's the new and more fuel efficient Weinermoblie! Based off the Mini-Cooper S, the new and improved Weinermobile can really "haul buns" without single-handedly depleting the nations oil reserves. Good Morning America caught it on video and you can watch it here.
The classic Weinermobile is usually built on a truck or motor-home chassis, but with the pressure on companies to look more eco-conscious, it seems that Oscar Mayer decided to tone it down a bit. I doubt that many people who care about 'going green' are the same people who line up to get a weenie whistle, but maybe the execs at Oscar Mayer just wanted to head off criticism before it started. If they wanted to make a real statement, they should have built in on a Prius.
While I don't think you can go so far as to call this the "green weinermobile" -- especially since that sounds horribly unappetizing -- it's a more fuel efficient choice no doubt. Maybe they could call it the 'Cocktail Weinermobile?'
